The last season for the now 4-story Blue Water Hotel was winter 1956. The hotel sold to a professional and lay group and was converted in the spring of 1957 into the private 67-room Fort Lauderdale Beach Hospital.

Katie Lambert Foundation purchased the hospital. The building gained a new south wing with the iconic cross-hatch face and served as a modern general hospital with excellent surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation facilities, featuring air-conditioned rooms and a sun deck patio.
